Obituary for Venita Cullum

Venita Cullum
Venita L. Cullum, 85, of Pittsburg, passed away at 12:36 a.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Integrity Health Care of Marion.

Venita was born February 17, 1932 in Nauvoo, Alabama to Timothy and Dottie (Dorsett) Miskelley. She married Jewel Ray “Joe” Cullum on September 14, 1949 in Marion. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2017.

Venita was retired, having been employed by Norge for 17 years as a welder. She had previously worked at Smoler Brothers in Herrin. She was a member of Smart Chapel Church in Harco.

Venita enjoyed quilting and working word search puzzles. She also enjoyed crocheting rugs.

Survivors include, two children, Barbara Kay(Donnie) LaBotte of Marion and Dennis Ray Cullum of Pittsburg; 7 grandchildren, David Dorris of West Frankfort, Mark (Jackie) Dorris of West Frankfort, Michelle Currey of Whitwell, TN, Sabrina Currey of Eastridge, GA, Dianna Yeager of Ga, Jason (Jackie) Cullum of Carterville, Tammy (Bryan) Braden of Metropolis; six brothers, Troy, Wayne, Tim, John, Howard and Tom Miskelley; one sister, Carol DeLashment. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carolyn Sue Cullum; infant son, Billy Cullum; two sons-in-law, Ronnie Dorris and Mickey Currey; daughter-in-law, Kathie Cullum.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Rev. Bob Workman and speaker, Mike Cullum officiating. Interment will follow in Freedom Cemetery, south of Marion.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Smart Chapel Church. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
