Obituary for Delores Ann Layne

Delores  Ann Layne
Delores Ann Layne, 82, of Johnston City, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:33 p.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Herrin Hospital.

Delores was born November 24, 1935 in Herrin to Frank and Cledith (Biley) Huffstutler. She married Kenneth Eugene Layne on July 3, 1950 in Piggott, Arkansas. They have shared 67 ½ years of marriage together.

Delores was retired, having been employed by Steven’s Framing and Floral in Marion for over 25 years. Delores was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, working crossword puzzles and going fishing. She especially loved to spend time with her family.

Delores is survived by husband Kenneth Layne of Marion; two daughters, Denise (Bob) Howell of Johnston City and Lesa (Michael) Shockley of Benton; two grandsons, Bobby Howell of Herrin and Ryan Howell of Energy; great-granddaughter, Taylor Kay Howell; sister, Cathy (Bruce) Yahnke of Janesville, WI; brother-in-law, Orvel (Emma) Layne of Thompsonville; special cousin, Floyd (Ruth) Williams of Johnston City. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie Smith; granddaughter-in-law, Erin Davis Howell; two sisters, Doris Golder and Wendy Moore.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 in Pyle Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Colson officiating. Interment will follow in Number 8 Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home..

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
